Title:

A Framework to Support Business Process Analytics

Abstract: Business intelligence (BI) systems have become a powerful tool for business users in decision making. Through the analysis of historical (and increasingly, real-time) data, these systems assist end-users in achieving visibility on process and business performance. While traditionally used to discover trends and relationships in large, complex business data sets, there is a significant and growing demand for something more than the use of mere historical data and rudimentary analysis tools. There is a demand for more advanced analytics such as root cause analysis of performance issues, predictive analysis and the ability to perform “what-if” type simulations. This paper proposes a technological solution for one of the core components of these emerging BI systems, namely the ability to monitor and analyse the execution outcomes of business processes. This provides essential insight into business process performance, key intelligence in initiatives aimed at measuring and improving overall business performance, especially in highly distributed business processes, where this type of visibility is especially hard to achieve across heterogeneous systems.

A Social Framework to Underpin Collective Awareness in BPM

Abstract: People are changing the way how they interact with the internet. They are using it to connect virtually with other people for sharing ideas, opinions about a specific item/product or process. BPM involves a detailed analysis of the organization, and often a change in organizational structure. Organisations will be able to reach additional benefits in the usage of BPM Software and Social Software for the coordination of activities that involve processes and it supports new communication patterns between costumers and enterprise. The solution found was the combination of social technology and Business Process Management. This paper proposes a framework focused on design and analysis stage in BPM life cycle that enables all the stakeholders to interact and share knowledge in order to fill some of the existing gaps in BPM life cycle, creating a harnessing collective awareness.

Social-GTD for Collaborative Activity Support in Organizations

Abstract: Activities management in organizations is of utmost importance for optimizing the effectiveness of business processes. Time is one of the important factors in this context, so time management becomes an important aspect that needs appropriate theoretical support. Our research work is based on work done in personal management but we propose an adaptation of a particular methodology to the organizational context. This work-in-progress includes the development of an information system for collaborative activity support in organizations based on a matrix structure, which can collect and manage available actions, providing each organizational unit the capability of sharing and managing information/resources.

Title:

Integration of External Data in Document Workflows via Web Services

Abstract: In recent years the adoption of systems to automatically manage information assets in networked, collaborative ways has become vital for enterprises. In this work we focus on collaborative document management systems, where actual document development relies on accessing structured data in remote repositories. Forms within documents must be filled in with proper data items: An automated support to gather the required remote data may substantially improve the overall document management process. The Web Service technology is of fundamental help in this setting, because it lets remote data be exposed to potential clients according to standard interfaces. On the other hand, document management systems must be modified to provide this new kind of data access. This paper introduces a novel approach to support remote data integration in documents handled by Content Management Systems. According to the reported experience, such a data integration can be regarded as an enabling feature for a better exploitation of document workflow systems.
